Alfred focuses his practice on securities litigation, commercial litigation and trial advocacy on behalf of public consumers and small businesses. He currently is part of the Subprime Litigation Team that is representing over 150 consumer clients and multiple institutional clients against Regions Morgan Keegan for unsuitable sales practices pertaining to bond funds backed by subprime mortgage securities. The aggregate damages in these cases exceed 100 million dollars. Many of these clients are retirees who have lost a substantial amount of their retirement.
In addition to litigating suitability cases and other brokerage cases, he participated in the handling of analyst fraud cases surrounding the “tech wreck” of 2000-2001.
Alfred is a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association and regularly attends the annual meeting for continuing legal education and receiving updates on current securities related matters. Mr. Olinde is also a member of the business torts section of the American Association for Justice, formerly known as the “Association of Trial Lawyers of America”.
Alfred serves as co-counsel in a case representing a small software company that has suffered up to 70 million dollars in damages as a result of a breach of an earn-out provision in an asset purchase agreement against a publicly traded company.
Following Hurricane Katrina, he successfully handled many breach of contract cases against insurance companies that failed to pay their policy holders fairly for hurricane damages. Many of these cases included insurance bad-faith claims. His clients included individuals and commercial entities.
Alfred graduated from Tulane Law School in 1990, and has been licensed to practice law in the State of Louisiana since that time. He trained to become a trial lawyer working as a felony prosecutor in New Orleans. As a felony prosecutor, he tried over 100 jury cases to verdict, which puts him in the top 1% of all trial lawyers in jury trial experience. In March 1993, Alfred was awarded the honor of best felony prosecutor by the New Orleans District Attorney’s Office.
He has also been cited in a United States Supreme Court opinion for a capital murder case he jury tried.
While his primary focus is securities and commercial litigation, Alfred has also had substantial success litigating catastrophic personal injury cases, including a Six Million Dollar ($6,000,000.00) recovery for a client who suffered a moderate brain injury in a motor vehicle collision. He has also recovered nearly one million dollars for an injured child in a products liability case against an auto manufacturer regarding an automobile rollover.
When it comes to achieving a favorable result against brokerage firms, large corporations, and insurance companies, experience and client loyalty are important. Mr. Olinde dedicates nearly all of his practice to representing the public and small businesses, as opposed to big corporations, brokerage firms, and insurance companies.
Alfred is married and has 3 children.
